[ hitting the skies ]

SO MY BAG is packed again and I'm off to Dubai! My guy has to go on business and so I'm tagging along. Can't wait to check out some amazing sights and even more amazing shopping! I'll share some pics when I return but while I'm away, I'll have a few posts for you and I'll be reading your comments on his iPad whereever I find some free wifi (otherwise I'll have total blog withdrawal!). See you in a couple of weeks!

[ red wellies ]

WITH SPRING approaching (hopefully!), all the snow will soon be melting and showers are on their way. Time to get out the wellies! And to me, no wellies are more fun than red ones!

If you are looking to add some cheery red wellies to your wardrobe, there are some great ones out there:

Will you be adding some wellies to your spring?

[ a room with a view ]

WHEN I THINK of my dream home, one thing always comes to mind - a fabulous view. Being a pisces, I think I was always meant to live near the ocean. These spaces have me dreaming of warm ocean breezes and the sound of waves lapping against the shore. What does your dream home include?

[ white life ]

I RECENTLY discovered a lovely blog called Uruguay White Life and it's just so charming! If you love all things white like I do, you'll have to take a peek here.

I love her little DIY projects and the pretty vignettes she creates with simple things. I think I need a box just for lace too!

[ fabulously british ]

IT WAS A gorgeous day in Dublin on Saturday so we decided to take a walk around and browse in some shops. I stumbled upon Jack Wills, a great shop located on tiny Harry Street, definitely off the beaten path. It can best be described as Britain's version of American Eagle or The Gap.

Housed in an old red-brick Victorian building on three levels, Jack Wills is chock full of great casual fashions for men and women, as well as accessories and bedding & linens. I love the way they merchandise their products, using old dressers, vintage suitcases, even a claw-foot tub!

I checked out their website to see more of their pieces...

And so after all that browsing, what did I buy? A fantastic union jack floor cushion! I know that union jacks have been a big trend lately and I haven't tired of them yet. This cushion just adds that punch to a space and looks great right now with the red sofas in this furnished apartment!

[ old-fashioned blueberry pancakes ]

MY FAVOURITE thing about weekends is waking up on Sunday morning and making something special for breakfast. And what better treat than homemade blueberry pancakes?

Lisa's old-fashioned blueberry pankcakes
This batter is so simple to make and sure beats store-bought pancake mix!

what you need:

1 1/2 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp white sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
1 egg
3 tbsp butter, melted in a mug in the microwave
splash of vanilla
sprinkle of cinnamon
1/2 cup blueberries (or more if you like lots!)

how to:

In a large bowl, wisk together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cinnamon. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg, melted butter and vanilla. Wisk until smooth. Stir in blueberries. Let sit for about 10 minutes.

Heat a griddle or frying pan over medium-high heat and melt a dab of butter into it. Pour or scoop the batter into the pan using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Flip over when small bubbles appear around the edges and bottom is brown. Repeat with remaining batter (keep cooked pancakes warm in a covered bowl as you continue to cook). To serve, stack on a plate, add a dab of butter and top with maple syrup. Yum! Happy weekend!

[ branching out ]

IN AN EFFORT to coax spring along, I thought these ideas for decorating with branches might make it come faster (wishful thinking?). Cherry blossoms are one of my favourites but I love the simplicity of clipping any kind of budding branches to display.
