[ dough! ]

I'VE BEEN in love with antique rustic dough bowls for a long time. There are so many ways to display them...

Are you hooked?

I've been searching for one for many years ~ one that wouldn't break the bank as they can be quite expensive. I stumbled across one on sale at Pottery Barn, from Hungary in the 1800's and even though it was huge, I knew I had to have it!

I love the pale colouring of it ~ it almost looks like driftwood...

...and it's huge ~ 43" long!

I love the metal mending patch...

I think it's a great addition to our big table. And I think it looks beautiful even empty...

Do you have a dough bowl? How do you display yours?

I don't have one but Tina from The Enchanted Home has them in her shop and she finds the most lovely way to display them. Love the rustic vibe they provide. xo

They are very cool! I especially love them around the holidays with some simple greens and glass bulbs. I don't have one, but I have an antique cigar mold which kind of evokes the same feeling. It sits on an entry table and I just love it's simplicity.

Oh you lucky girl! I love them too! I used to have a reproduction dough bowl, but it broke. I'm still hunting for the right one. (which means the cheap one :)

I don't have one, but have seen them at a few house shoots. Love them, and wanted to pinch one from the last shoot....but I didn't. ;)

Love them, love yours! When we went to Brimfield they were everywhere and some serious coin! I drool over them but had to pass...maybe next year since I'm a working girl now! lol!

I love them - so wish I had one just to sit on my cabinet in my all white kitchen - love the warmth they add to any space.

Yes, you've now got me hooked on dough bowls! Love every one of the pictures you posted, and your new bowl is beautiful! The metal patch adds great character to it :-)

If I had a dough bowl, I'd probably display some of my glass fishing floats in it, like in the picture you posted. I'm running out of room for them on the mantel!

I have a bowl that is similar to these, the only difference being that it doesn't have the lip on the end. A dear friend of ours carved it out of wood he found on his property in Costa Rica, so it has extra special meaning to us. I love mine empty too, but I've also filled it with citrus from our trees.
