I've sewn since I was a kid - starting with doll clothes, prom dresses, home decor, slipcovers, handbags - creating most with my own hand-drawn patterns... but to be honest, I've never really known how to properly alter clothing other than a simple hem. Weird, huh?
So when Craftsy sent me an email offering all first-time classes for $14.99 until March 3rd, I figured now was the time to learn something new.
My alterations pile has been growing {thanks in part to some weight-loss which I'm certainly not complaining about!} and many items are just too nice to simply toss or donate. We'll see how many I'll be able to salvage!
If you'd like to see all the online classes they offer from beginner to advanced [sewing, crafting, crocheting...etc, click here}.
Have you ever altered your own clothes?

i am such an evil seamstress...i just sew like a mad woman. i break all the rules. i lack the patience....so i'm thinking that i'll leave it to the pros! lol
yay for weigh loss! i'm at a halfway point...took a break and just kind of coasted. time to get serious again! i found that having a really energy packed smoothie every morning really was my magic tool. xo
Very cool...I've never heard of them! I have altered clothing and like you I've sewn since I was a teen. I"m sure there are some tricks of the trade though that I know nothing about. I'll check it out!
I have the opposite problem with pants. ;) Not sure if I could ever alter my clothes, but I might look at some other classes they offer. Have a good weekend!
Oh god know I wish i'd paid more attention in home economics....I pay a nice lady to hem my pants...I wish I had a weight loss issue but glad someone does! Have a wonderful weekend!
what a great idea. I would love to be able to sew just a lil. and can you believe my mom TAUGHT sewing to a few of us neighborhood teens...years ago? I was the only one that didn't finish my outfit!
