[ nook love ]

A KITCHEN nook is often one of the most-used spots in a home and I fell in love with this one. Rather than a large kitchen table, the space is divided into 2 functional areas...

a cozy spot for watching tv (or blogging!)...

{how fantastic is that fabric and the built-in shelving for cookbooks, a tv and serving dishes?}

and a little spot for brekkie...

{wouldn't that orange table make you smile every morning?}

Not only is this nook pretty, it's so practical too - high shelves over the windows carve out extra storage but keep the space feeling open.

Even if you only had space for one of these areas, how fab would that be? Do you have a kitchen nook?

Cozy, cozy, cozy! I'd fear that if I lived there, you'd need a forklift to get me out of the house :)

That chair in the first picture is amazing, lovely shape and great fabric. Unfortunately I don't have a nook, in fact my kitchen here, in our English rental, is a small separate room. I miss my big open plan kitchen at home in Melbourne where I am part of the action when I'm cooking! It doesn't have a nook, but it does have a bay window with a built in seat...so does that count?? I love that...I don't have anything remotely as cozy; in fact, I'm struggling with trying to find a way to make our kitchen eating area cozy and inviting, instead of a cold, uncomfortable place to be...

I have a little area with my round table in front of our fireplace...not anything as cozy as this though....love the bright colors.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

I don't have a nook in the kitchen exactly since my my kitchen is small and not large enough for that, but who doesn't love a little nook to cozy up in sip tea/coffee and read the morning paper?

That orange table *is* fabulous. I'm just starting to work on a nook for a client's kitchen. Thanks for the inspiration. Have a great day Lisa!

Beautiful...I only wish I had the space to carve out in my kitchen...maybe one day when I get my full reno. Thanks for sharing!

First pic, THAT table. In my single girl, pre-Finland chapter of life a few years ago I found that table at a TJMaxx so stinking cheap, unfortunately every one of them wobbled or had a major issue but always loved it and would keep checking back waiting for a sturdy one, sadly it never happened.

Second pic, I LOVE THAT TABLE! Yes most definitely an orange table would set a smile on my face for the day! I love pops of color!

On matters of bread making... say the word and I'll send you a bag of Finnish rye flour!:)Better yet, I'll just come and we'll make bread together!

That is the happiest little nook I've seen in a while! I'm loving the red door, the fun fabric and the shelves. I would love to carve out a nook in my kitchen :)

Both images...so chic and kid friendly, what a warm and wonderful environment for morning light cereal and homework with milk and a cookie after school!

Love this nook, but especially love the niche above the window for dishes and glassware. That chair is pretty fab though.

I just got my Country Living yesterday and that house was my favorite. The orange table just pops - and the little nook area is so cozy! xo Ashlyn

Wow, I LOVE the wing chair. I have one that is in desperate need of reupholstering. Something I'd like to tackle on my own, but am just too nervous to try. Maybe at some point. Thanks for posting! liz

Well hello again Lisa! I seem to have lost your link somehow, but delighted to find you again, and catch up with all your news of your new home in Dubai.

This kitchen is very cheery - all those large windows are helping too, as well as lovely styling. And the big armchair is very inviting. Virginia

Both pictures are beautiful and inviting. I think if you added and ottoman to the first picture I would never want to leave that spot-if it were my house! Which it isn't! But I wish it were!
