[ taken with transferware ]

THERE'S SOMETHING about transferware that brings to mind simpler days and old-fashioned goodness. I think many of us have grown up with transferware at some point - whether a platter for the turkey, grandma's pie served on dessert plates or maybe that special teapot for afternoon tea.

Not only do I love the idea of a wall of these beauties on display, I also love the idea of using them everyday just to add that little bit of pretty to the table.

Do you have any treasured transferware? If you do, what colour do you have and do you use it?

Love the reds and browns especially!! I don't have any personally, I'm always on the lookout for just that perfect piece at flea markets and such, but have yet to find any I'm totally in love with.

The platters are gorgeous!!

I love how transfer ware can be traditional or funky and modern! Think I need to start a new collection!

I recently purchased the most amazing teal platter. I also have a set of six small red mugs that I fill with hot spiced wine or cider at Christmas. Your post is fabulous! I could see myself standing in picture number five!

I actually found some red transferware plates at the thrift store recently. They would look so great at Chritmastime. For some bizarre reason I didn't get them. Of course they were gone when I went back. I don't know what is wrong with me!

The transferware just looks beautiful wherever it is placed. I really enjoyed all of the images. I have a couple of plates, but they are not antique. One hangs in the hall to my downstairs. Others just sit here and there. I also really enjoyed your post regarding basically "advertisements" on blogs. So very true! I sometimes feel a little mean because I also decline that kind of request. I think everyone has to be true to their blog and what kind of content they wish to publish. I've been surprised by some of the blogs that accepted the requests. Sorry I haven't been around as much lately. Husband had knee surgery so my time has been pretty limited. Hope you have a great day and enjoy your weekend!

I've loved transferware for a long time. I only have two pieces that I picked up years ago. I have a red plate and a brown plate, hanging together on the wall next to the range in my kitchen. This makes me want to add to the (very small) collection!

I love transferware. I wanted to start collecting a few purple salad plates but either have been too hard to find or when I do the cost is just too high. But, I am still looking.

I have a ton of brown and cream that I've been collecting over the years. It's so pretty but we never use it anymore. Was thinking of selling it if anyone's interested. :)

I have a family collection of blue & white but every year as Thanksgiving approaches I start really wanting brown. Is it wrong to start over?

Pretty, pretty pretty. I just shot a story with someone that collects this style of china. So lovely.

My mom gave me a gorgeous brown and cream soup tureen and four bowls ten years ago and I love them. I am always on the lookout for new pieces but haven't come across any yet. Could transferware be the next trend?

A local blog friend of mine just picked up a few of these pieces at the thrift store for about $2 and they look so great displayed on her walls. I think they are so pretty and intriguing.

I really enjoyed this article because I think it is very true to life. Most of us, have to be creative with our limited budgets.
