HAPPY MONDAY! Gee, that was a quick weekend! I actually didn't end up spending any time by the pool as I had planned, but we did go on a little road trip on Saturday to Fujairah, one of the other Emirates.
Come along with me and I'll show you what I saw from my passenger seat...
As you can imagine, Dubai is surrounded by lots of sand...
... we saw a few goats...
... a coffee shop...
... some random camels...
... gradually the sand became a deeper cayenne colour {apparently each of the 7 Emirates has a different colour of sand}...
...and the landscape began to change to mountains...
...we passed elaborate buildings in the middle of nowhere...
...and random people of the side of the road...
...and more camels...
...and soon it was late afternoon and we were on our way back...
... and could eventually see Dubai's skyline on the horizon...
... and we were back.
There you go! A little taste of what you see around the outskirts of Dubai. What did you see this weekend?

Of course I'm aware of the sand, but never thought about it, that's a darn lot of sand. Interesting how it changes color. Gotta say, I have NEVER seen camels on my road trips :)
This weekend I saw lots of friends as we went to 3 get togethers, love that.
well since you asked...we re-filled the hot tub, i transplanted 8 more baby evergreens and i watched the chickadees at my feeder. :) oh, and we watched "the notebook" on saturday and "you've got mail" on sunday. so today i'm feeling kind of nostalgic/romantic/in the mood to buy fresh flowers...
sending love from muskoka :)
(i'll bet it's nice to get out of the city once in a while)
Wow... so beautiful, but so sparse at the same time!
Love the building in the middle of nowhere and the random people (where are they going - maybe their camels got away?!)
Glad you had a fun weekend...we got our taxes out and sadly owed a lot of money ;( We watched a couple of funny movies though - so that lightened the mood!
Happy Monday,
Ashlyn
It is beautiful!(the camels are so cool). But I'm sure you've got to miss all the beautiful trees in Canada. Thats how I felt in Las Vegas. I discovered that the desert has a special beauty, but at times I really missed green!
Fascinating to see this country from a residents perspective...I don't really think of it as a place with roads that meander of into the country! But maybe its just me. Thank you for these images.
WE visited with friends, watched hockey, I worked on my sewing for market....and we did not go to a pool either...not even a option in this weather!
Thank you for dropping by & yor sweet comment.
Hi Lisa, goodness me it is such a contrast from the city! Love Linda x
So different than I ever imagined! Just flew in on the red eye this morning from LA so tired and fogging feeling. Hope all is well in your world! xo
The amazing thing is that it looks like travel is smooth within the Emerates. Is it like going from state to state in the US? Do you need to go through customs?
The skyline of Dubai is amazing.
We didn't go anywhere this weekend. I did see my grandaughter crawl for the first time.

Thanks for the fantastic road trip! Camels? I can't imagine seeing them just sauntering down the road.
So fun to follow you on your adventure. Such a different way of life. We just enjoyed some baseball, and I made a really good dinner Sunday night. Time consuming, but worth it!
Lisa, I cannot
believe that this
is your reality ~
and how beautifully
you are embracing
the adventure! Such
an interesting fact
about the sand. I
think if I lived there
I would undoubtedly
be a CITY girl!
Love & Hugs,
Suzanne
Love this post! All that sand and then the amazing Dubai skyline...what an adventure to live there!
Thanks for taking us along. Of course, I know the terrain well. :) My youngest son brought back sand from Dubai in a water bottle several years ago and let me just tell you, it caused quite a stink getting through security. How's the weather over there? Kinda icky here. Dust high up in the sky blocking out the sun. Hope you are having a good day. Tammy
WOW, that is a lot different than Canada!
