[ a divine deck ]

NOW THAT outdoor entertaining season has arrived, I find myself missing our Muskoka place more and more, especially when I saw this gorgeous home in Portland, Maine.

the gorgeous wrap-around veranda...

the stunning deck extending out towards the water...

I can already smell the pancakes in this kitchen...

and the porch just welcomes you inside.

The birds chirping, the swish of a canoe paddle... sigh. It's doesn't get any better than that.

ps: thanks for your sweet words about the fire near my hometown. It appears that any immediate danger has passed with the bit of rain they thankfully received and the ongoing work of the firefighters. It's been an unusually dry spring and any bit of lightning poses a danger. Our 50-year old family summer cottage was also surrounded by a separate fire but it looks like that area has been spared.

Divine indeed. Reminds me of the movie The Notebook. I would love a big wrap around deck. Our old home had a farmer's porch and I used to sit out there w/ the kids when they were small and we would watch thunderstorms. xo

Love that house, and am very happy to hear that your family's cottage is well.

OMG what a porch!! Bring on the rocking chairs and lemonade. The view out to the water is gorgeous!!

Great to hear that the fire danger is subsiding. :-)

We have a small porch but live on a corner with more than ideal traffic so I don't sit out there too much. There is a lovely view of a mountain but I do long for a view of the sea. Seeing as I live in Phoenix, don't think I'll find it here :)

I LOVE the whole thing of having a porch like these. You just hardly ever see them in England - I don't really know why because they look so gorgeous!

I'm so pleased your okay with the fire - that must have been scary.

Big hugs,

Sarahx

Lisa - my sister and her family lived in Timmins for quite a few years. Her husband is from Timmins originally and her son is married to a Timmins girl. He posted a video one of their friends took showing the fire coming over Rae Hill and jumping over the highway. It was incredible. I know a lot of firefighters from allover have and are heading north to help. J
