I did get out thrifting and ended up at the Habitat for Humanity Restore which has become my all-time favourite place to hang out (when I have time to putter). I landed this awesome vintage metal bed for $30 which I plan to put into one of our guest rooms. It's in good shape and is currently in a dark brown finish with a diamond pattern on the center panel.
I've always loved old metal beds and these inspiration pics make me love it even more:
[1,4 coastal living; country living; easy living;
5,6 better homes and gardens; house beautiful]
Now the question is, should I paint it or leave it in its original finish?

Love all this inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome find..can't wait to see the color you pick!
Great score!
(I say paint it, unless the brown is perfect where you'll be using it!)
great find and an awesome price! Also, the inspiraton photos are lovely. I have a vintage metal bed in my daughter's room that was brown, similar to yours but with that great center panel, we sprayed it silver when we re-did our house into a more modern environment, love it. Can't wait to see how yours looks in it's new home.
Great find Lisa!
I love your inspiration photos too...I think the green ones are my fave.
You'll have to show us your finished project. :-)
Happy Monday!
Great score! I have a metal bed frame, too, though it's just from IKEA via Craig's List. It looks passably old, though. I just discovered your blog and am a new follower!

Depends on the wall
color. I like the
brown one in the pic
with the blue-striped
bedding....Actually,
I like them all! Great
find, Lisa : )
Happy Monday,

I'm planning to get a metal bed for our guest room too! Just haven't found the right one, yet! :)
What a great find! I've had a few metal beds over the years. One is still in my old room at my parents that's been in the family for years and years. It's painted white and has some ornate details. My mom had quite an experience trying to find replacement brass balls for it. (imagine the look she got from the old guy behind the counter when she asked for brass balls!) The other one I got for cheap (though I think you may have beaten my deal) at a flea market. Some previous owner had spray painted it black and gold camouflage!! Needless to say I chose to paint that one too!
Can't wait to see what you decide to do with it!
These are great pics, and what a score you made on that beauty!
Oh paint it, I love the aqua shades! I remember when I was 16 my mother had my boyfriend and I take two of these beds to a thrift store for her and I had no idea then what I was doing! I wish I could get them back. Great find Lisa and thanks for the welcome back! :)
$30 ??!! That's a steal! I don't think that our reStore ever has furniture, but maybe I need to check more often. You are going to have great decor fun with this little steal. -diane
Great bed! I think paint would be great!
hey, that's my old bed! (from childhood!)
Is there a wee dent in the headboard...I would rock back and forth to rock myself to sleep!

I love your find! AMAZING! I think it would look stunning either way (if you left it alone or decided to paint it). Hope you post a "after" photo once you've completed the guest room.
