Along with my Amy Butler tunic pattern {which I still haven't tackled yet}, I had picked up this McCalls tunic pattern last spring and finally got around to making it.
I chose a simple black cotton...
The pattern indicated "easy" which it was for the most part, except for the neck facing which was a little more finicky but overall it wasn't too difficult.
I ended up sewing down the pleats a bit to keep them from puffing out and I added a ruffled ribbon trim around the bodice.
I ended up taking in the sleeves afterwards since they felt a bit like wings and I'm much happier with the narrower silhouette.
I'm glad I finally got it done! It's been quite a long time since I've actually sewn a piece of clothing. Have you sewn anything lately?

It looks lovely Lisa. I must admit, any time I have made myself clothing, I don't like it, I think it's because I made it. This year my wardrobe is so sad and empty, I think I will just be glad to have stuff in it, so I am going to give it a go. I would like to make a few skirts and maybe a pinafore. I have a good book with a lot of lovely patterns in, so now I just need to get some fabric.

You did a great job! It's been years since I sewed any clothing. I have a niece who's studying fashion design and she sometimes combines different patterns to create dresses. Wish I was that talented!

Super cute! Oh how I wish I could sew - how talented you are. I dream up all measure of outfits to make and I love wandering the fabric aisles. That darn machine and I just never clicked, though I can make a pillow - 4 straight lines :)

I love the shirt! I am too scared to sew clothing! There is so much you can hide when it comes to home decor, but not clothes! Impressive!
Beautiful Tunic! I haven't touched my sewing machine in ages. I'm not sure I even remember how to thread the thing. I've been having a really strong urge to give it a try again lately though. You project may have just pushed me over the edge!

i've been sewing some warm weather clothes for summer travel. a snappy tunic or 3 sounds like something to add to my list!
