[ collectors are not hoarders ]

I'M ALWAYS intrigued by what people choose to collect. Maybe it's something owned as a child, or a piece that was given as a gift or something picked up from a memorable trip somewhere that starts it all. And displaying these collections adds a lot of personality to a home.

Apart from my snowmen collection, my small old bottles, some of my grandma's teacups and my birdhouses, I do have...

my small grouping of antique rolling pins...

my jug collection...

and a small collection of antique shoe forms that I picked up in Paris and at the Christie Antique Fair {here are just a few}...

Sadly everything is packed away in Canada right now but I can't wait to get everything out someday and display them in our next home. My collections are small, but it's always fun to add to them as I come across things in my travels.

Do you have any fun collections? And if you do, how did your collection start?

The clicks are lovely. I liked the collection of cute suitcases and the glass containers.

Well that's a great collection considering that most of your stuff is not even with you! When I was a child I used to collect sugar packets from all the countries & places we travelled to! Haha! What a crazy thing to collect because the ants loved it. Nowadays...oh dear my weaknesses are many...handbags, hats, vintage teacups, old perfume bottles...better not confess any more!

love the way the cameras are displayed in the first image. I really don't collect...except do have a few globes, that is probably the item I could get really into collecting! Janell

milkglass, vintage landscapes, jugs, christmas tree toppers, vintage dog stuff, pretty costume jewellery (I hardly ever wear it, I just like it), vase frogs....and more. I am a collector NOT a hoarder...love this and sharing with my husband and anyone else who thinks I have a problem! xo (I'm showing my photographer brother the camera display...he has MANY old cameras)

I have, over the course of my life, collected lots of little things and enjoyed them all. It's so easy to buy presents for people who collect things too :)
A few years ago I decided to get rid of most of our "stuff" and keep things to a minimum. I think, having my vintage shops, lets me indulge in the collecting without accumulating the clutter - win win.

The pez dispensers and the lunch boxes are my favourites! I have a gum wrapper collection from when I was a kid. (It's from the days when gum came in long flat sticks with colorful paper around them... think Juicy Fruit, Doublemint, etc.)... kind of a funny collection, but it is so colorful, and it smells great!

I think one of the best things about collections is seeing how they are displayed. The cameras...love that. I collect a few things...one collection is a little bit of sand from every beach we've been. It's amazing when you see them all together in clear lucite boxes how different sand can be from all over the world. I love your teacups and old rolling pins.

I am the exact opposite of a collector. I throw everything away and then later regret it:) I adore the pez and lunchbox collections because they both remind me of my childhood.

I started collecting milk glass a few years ago but don't have it all displayed together. Someday I'd love to come up with a perfect way to showcase it.

I'm all for well-edited, well-displayed collections. It's the 300-ceramic-cats-scattered-throughout-on-every-surface collections that scare me a little! These are fantastic, they add so much personality.
