[ writing inspiration ]

I HOPE all my fellow Canadians had a wonderful long weekend! No long weekend for us since my guy has to take local holidays here instead, but it did mean fewer emails from his Canadian office which was nice.

I've been plugging away at my writing course and I'm really enjoying it. Each week we're submitting a new chapter and we all read and offer feedback as we go along. It's so interesting reading each other's chapters ~ everyone has their own writing style ~ some very descriptive, some hilarious. I find myself reading books in an entirely different way now, looking for conflict, subplots, studying dialogue. Sheesh! This is a lot like school! What have you been up to?

Sounds like school for sure - but fun at the same time. I've been in organizing mode. Usually when I'm off work in the Summers that's what I do. Right now I'm tackling the pantries. We have a "house" one, mostly kids stuff, cereal, crackers, tupperware etc...I'm pretty much done with that one. Today I'm starting on my cooking one - it's a blast zone! Spices, sauces, pastas - I can't find anything lately so it's gotta get fixed. It will probably take me a couple of days to finish it all. I'm going in - wish me luck!! ;-)

You will probably forever read like a writer now....that you understand what goes into a book. Enjoy!

You're so inspiring, Lisa. You've really got me thinking about taking a writing course. I'll let you know if I do. As for my weekend, we had the usual family bbq, only it was kinda on the chilly side. At least the rain held off until the next day!

Happy Canada Day even if you can't be here Lisa! I felt like a different kind of reader after being in a book club so I can only imagine how you must feel after a bona fide course in writing. Go girl!
