[ keep on rollin' ]

HAPPY MONDAY everyone! I hope you had a lovely weekend - we got more snow on Saturday and then the temperature fell to -29C (-20F) so it's a crisp day today where the snow almost squeeks under your feet! brrr.....

I want to thank you all for your sweet comments on our kitchen makeover! We were overwhelmed by the comments and all the compliments - you definitely made our weekend!

Today I want to share the fun gift I received from my sister for Christmas. We draw names amongst the adults in our family and since we tend to do it already in the summer, she happened to be scoping out yard sales one weekend and came across an amazing score! A woman was selling off some of her collections, including this collection of vintage rolling pins! And lucky me, my sister happened to have my name for Christmas and so I got them!

I was so thrilled when I unwrapped the first one and realized there were 4 more rolled up in the box!

I currently have them displayed in my big white bowl on the island and I think they look pretty cute. How would you display them?

Hi Lisa,

These are so lovely! Lucky you. This must be reason number four thousnad why I wish I had a sister!!

You could make a picture of them, balancing each one on nails, in a picture frame? Or could you possibly use one horiantally as a kitchen paper roll holder? Not sure what to attach it to.

Can't wait to see what you do with them.

Wow, what a find. I would love a gift of vintage treasures like that. I like them in a bowl. Or I would find a large crock and stash all my kithcen tools in it. I think if you hang them, it loses a bit of that modern farmhouse feel that your kitchen has.

Lovely gift, lucky you. I remember reading once that Martha Stewart collects old rolling pins. Think she either had them on a shelf or hanging on a wall. I like how you have them too.

So lovely - I adore them in the bowl. My kind of arrangement! Now only if I could get that kind of bouquet delivered...

How funny, I just started collecting vintage rolling pins, too. I only have two -- one exactly like your red handled one and then a black handled one just like just a bit bigger. I have mine in a piece of pottery that my sister made with all my wooden spoons. You can kind of see it on my latest blog post. I can't think of any other way?

What a great collection! I would frame them in a shadow box, I guess it depends on how long they are. Love them in the bowl too!

Thanks for following. Going to add you to my talented Canadian blog roll!

Lucky you! Those are so cute. If they were mine, I would probably try displaying them on a wall as we don't have much counter space. Now I have to check out your kitchen reno. I feel so out of the loop! Hope all is well...even though it's minus 29. ;)

LOVE the rolling pins! Lucky you. I like Barbara's idea of a shadow box. But they look great in the bowl too! It's not -20 here in Michigan but I know exactly what you mean about the snow squeaking under your feet. When you hear that sound you know it's really cold.

What a great gift from your sis!! I love them...especially the one with the red/cream handle.
They are going to look great no matter how you end up displaying them in your beautiful kitchen.

Those rolling pins are like pieces of art, love how the handles are all different. I'm wondering what delicious taste treats they have help produce over the years! What a lovely gift!

Love your rolling pins! I have one from my grandma - green handles - and I just love the character it has. They look really fun in your bowl.

Maybe you could
hang simple J hooks,
six inches apart, with
each pair above the other,
so the pins could rest
on them horizontally,
each one above the next?
However you display them,
they are wonderful!

Do you know, Lisa, I've been thinking about these rolling pins and today I suddenly wondered what your husband thought of your sister giving you what he must have seen as a bunch of old rolling pins as a present. I don't think my husband could think of a worse present to be given!!!

Isn't it funny what one person loves (and I LOVE these!), another person can think of like that!

Have you come up with ideas of how to display them?

Hope you're having a fab day.
