[ pretty hideaway ]

ONE OF MY favourite pieces of furniture is an armoire. It works in any room, can be configured to store a multitude of things and with the doors closed, you'd never know what's hiding inside. I've got one in our living room for the tv, dvd player, board games and Wii; an antique one in our bedroom to hold excess bedding; and a chippy paint, vintage one in the guest room to hold books. They all hold a ton of stuff while keeping the space clutter-free - but if you organize the contents and make it pretty, it will make you smile everytime you open those doors.

Here are some armoires being put to work:

for linens...

for kitchen ware...

as a pantry...

as a sewing room...

for shoes and handbags...

for magazines and knick knacks...

for kids' toys and clothes...

for clothes or bath items...

Do you have armoires in your home?

Funny, I do not but I had 2 in my last house! I like all the ones here and think the pull out shelves are a must.

Lisa,

I have an old Swedish armoire that we have moved from house to house, from room to room and have used to store just about anything under the sun. So easy to close the doors and look at some pretty wood when things get out of control!

Thank you for coming over to my blog. I have seen your name so many times in blog land and I like what I see!

And your bags are very stylish and creative.

I just opened up my own little store selling rubber boots!

I look forward to following you.

Yes! Living in the land of armoires I have nearly one in every room!
Two in the entry/music room, one for all our shoes (we are seven), one for all of our coats and scarves etc.
Then we have one in our lougeroom which holds our stereo and musique along with our bar and photo albums for some unknown reason! Then we have one in our family room which holds our tv etc, kids games and lots of yummy patchwork blankets to cuddle up into when it's cold!
Then I have one in my studio which holds all my fabric and another smaller one which holds my products.
Then in our master bedroom we have one for our hanging clothes......... I think that makes seven ; totally reasonable considering the number of people this house holds LOL ;)

Oddly enough, I don't think I even know anyone that has an armoire. However - I love them... and one day I'll get around to buying one.

The blue one is beautiful!
I have one...kinda plain really but it holds a lot of my sewing stuff, so it's very useful!

I have a great armoire that was passed down to me that my grandfather restored and refinished. It's simple with mirrored doors and I love It!
Right now it's in our dining room holding serving dishes and china....but I can see us moving it around to use in other places as well.

I have an armoire that's a bit bit up after several moves (unfortunately not in a good way!) If holds our tv, components, games, etc. and it's nice to close the doors and pretend that and TV doesn't live there. I've been searching for a pretty chest/side board piece to replace it but I'm not sure I am ready to give up being able to put the TV away when I don't want to look at it.
